Happy New Year

From all of us at PS91 Hospitality

As we welcome the start of a brand-new year, we want to pause and reflect on what has truly been an extraordinary twelve months for PS91 Hospitality. None of what we do would be possible without the continued support of our wonderful guests, locals, partners and communities, and for that, we want to say a very sincere thank you.

Being a Countryside-based group, our venues are more than just places to eat, drink and stay. They are hubs of community life, spaces for celebration and remembrance, and homes for local causes and connections. This past year has perfectly captured that spirit.

Honouring History & Community

One of the most meaningful moments of the year was commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day at The Bull Hotel. Our vintage singer Delores captured the tone beautifully and sent nostalgia bustling through our Market Square, extending down to our very own exhibit museum held in our ‘Bull Room’.

It was a privilege to work closely with the Royal British Legion to mark such an important historical milestone. The event brought together guests, locals, veterans and families in a moving celebration of remembrance, while also raising valuable funds for the Legion’s ongoing work. It was a powerful reminder of the role our pubs and hotels play at the heart of their communities.

Celebrating Our People

Behind every great pub and hotel is a passionate team, and this year we were delighted to welcome and celebrate our fantastic managers across the group:

  • Tessa, who joined us at The Rose & Crown, bringing warmth, energy and a real focus on community engagement
  • Laura, who took the reins at The Coach & Horses, quickly becoming a familiar and friendly face to many
  • Jodie, who joined The Eliot Arms, leading the team with enthusiasm and fresh ideas
  • And a very warm welcome back to Jacqui at The Bull Hotel, whose return has been met with huge positivity from guests and locals alike

Their leadership, alongside our dedicated teams, has helped each venue continue to thrive.

Giving Back Together

Supporting local and national charities remains a core part of who we are, and this year saw an incredible collective effort across all our venues:

  • Our ‘Old Skool Puddings’ promotion raised money directly for local primary schools, helping to support children and education within our communities. Through our initiative, we took a stroll down memory lane with classic old school puddings such as ‘Jam Roly Poly’ and ‘Chocolate Cake and Pink Custard’.
  • All four of our sites proudly took part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning, raising funds and awareness for those affected by cancer. It was a truly heartwarming, community-building day.
  • We commenced the beginning of our ‘Christmas Giving Tree’, providing gifts for children through the Salvation Army; ensuring many young people had something special to open on Christmas Day. The generosity of both staff and customers help made a real difference and we are so grateful to be part of such a caring community.
  • A huge well done to Nicola, one of our wonderful chefs who bravely took on a topless swim at Lake 32 to raise funds for ‘Breast Cancer Now’. After being diagnosed in November 2023, Breast Cancer Now was a massive support. After bonding with her surgeon over their shared love for open water swimming, there was no better way to show her appreciation by endeavouring a topless charity swim with her friends at The Merry Mermaids. She raised a huge £2760 along with a successful raffle and importantly helped raise awareness in spotting the signs early on. This was an inspiring achievement that we are very proud of.

These initiatives are only possible thanks to the generosity of our guests, and we are incredibly grateful for every contribution.

Bringing People Together

Community events were a major highlight of the year. The Duck Race at The Eliot Arms, held as part of the South Cerney Street Fair, was a brilliant example of how pubs can bring people together with laughter, friendly competition and local spirit.

At The Bull Hotel, RIAT weekend once again proved to be a summer highlight. We were delighted to host guests in our beer garden with fantastic views of the airshow, live music, and an outdoor bar, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere throughout the weekend.

The annual Fairford Steam Classic and Retro Show was held in the Market Place and The Bull fit in perfectly with the vintage, nostalgic feel as we once again hosted our successful outside bar with the perfect view to watch and take in the best the Steam Rally had to offer.

Investing in Our Venues

We also continued to invest in our properties to improve the experience for our guests:

  • The refurbishment at The Bull Hotel has refreshed and enhanced the space while retaining its character and charm.
  • The addition of new bedrooms at The Eliot Arms has allowed us to welcome more overnight guests, offering comfort and quality in a beautiful setting.

These improvements reflect our commitment to ensuring every visit, whether for a pint, a meal or a stay is memorable.

A Moment of Pride

We were incredibly proud to see The Rose & Crown named Runner-Up for Best Community Pub at the Great British Pub Awards. This recognition is a testament to the hard work of the team and the loyal support of the local community, and it perfectly embodies what PS91 Hospitality stands for.
